EUROVISION 2019 REVIEW: CZECH REPUBLIC - Lake Malawi - Friend Of A Friend

I'm back for another review!
After the last year of their weird online national final, Czech Republic have chosen Lake Malawi 'Friend of a Friend'. All I'll say right now is, Pam Rabbit was robbed. Anyway...
Here are my thoughts:
What I Like: I actually like some of the synth elements to the production here. At some points. I also think the chorus is quite tolerable, the hook flows very nicely and is well written. I also like Lake Malawi's style and identity, it's nice to see they have a thought out vision for their material.
What I Don't Like: As much as I believe that this is song has its merits, its simply a personal thing that this song just annoys me and I can't help it. I find the vocals quite annoying and the whole faux British thing they have going on sounds weird on British ears. This song also falls into a much loathed musical category of mine that I like to call 'Plinky Plonky Nonsense music'. The lyrics have absolutely no depth, the production is fairly simple and they have tried to make it sound like 'Friend of a Friend' has a deeper and more complex meaning, when it's quite obvious there really isn't one at all. If you're going to give me a nonsensical song, at least make sure it has some bite.
Prediction: Despite my opinions on the entry, I'm aware that these are just personal begrudgements. I actually think this is one of the sure-fire qualifiers of SF1. The locals will lap this up and it just seems right up the casual viewer's street.
Final Score: 3.5/10
Summary: A well-produced pop song with plenty of charm and appeal that I think will be another qualifier for Czech Republic. Sadly, its just not for me.
