New day, new review!

Today we turn to Lithuania, where after another everlasting edition of Eurovizijos Atranka, where we were graced with many life changing moments once again (see 'Strength Of A Woman', 'I Don't Care', the Tutti Frutti bop, and not to mention my favourite, the Ellie-Goulding mid-tempo power warble that was 'I'll Be Alright'). Despite this, they somehow managed to settle on Jurij Veklenko's 'Run with The Lions'.

Here are my thoughts:

What I Like: Jurij is a very believable performer and sells this song to its full potential. I particular love the part where he says 'Rrrrun with the Lions', I also believe that the percussion towards the end of the song is nice and adds something to the song, but these are all minor details.

What I Don't Like: You might of noticed I don't have too much to compliment here. This song is so middling its just painful! The minimal staging, the songwriting structure which has been done so many times before, the cliche lyrics, it's all so tired. It has the potential to fulfill the quota of being radio-friendly, but at the same time is so sterile and unoriginal that I doubt the jurors will even remember this when it comes to ranking. I feel that Jurij is wasted on this song as its clear he could deliver something way more powerful than this.

Prediction: This is in semi-final 2, going up against way more competent songs that provoke an emotion. This is so middling that it holds no impact, therefore I don't see a scenario where this qualifies, unless they somehow manage to bring an actual lion on stage lmao. It's just not realistic.

Final Score: 4/10

Summary: A pleasant song that just remains fine in every area that escapes the memory the second it finishes. The fact that this was the most difficult song to write about suggests that this is the most middling entry of the year, and I can't see Lithuania being rewarded for this.
